Tom Hafey ’31

A baseball star at Tech in class of 1931, Hafey was nicknamed “Heave-O” or “The Arm.” Tom’s brother Bud and his cousin Chick were also major league baseball players. He played two years in the major leagues as third baseman, with the New York Giants in 1939 and with the St. Louis Browns in 1944. He compiled a batting average of .248 with the Giants and Cardinals.

He died in 1996 in El Cerrito at the age of 83.
