About
What is the Oakland Tech Centennial?
The current Oakland Technical High School was opened at 4351 Broadway in January 1915. More than a year ago a group of alumni and volunteers started planning a series of events to celebrate 100 years of our school’s history, community, and contributions to Oakland and California.
Since it opened in 1915, Oakland Technical High School has produced some of the greatest athletes, academics, artists, entertainers, scientists, social activists, statesmen, and scholars of any high school in the country. We challenge any other school in the country to come up with a list of more accomplished alumni than these notable graduates of Oakland Technical High School.
We are working to partner with the City of Oakland in this year-long celebration, but because no City funds are available to underwrite the costs, we are generating sponsorships, asking for donations and will soon be selling merchandise to help fund this celebration. Donation information and an online donation form will be available soon.
To help us celebrate Oakland Tech’s 100th birthday, we invite local businesses that conduct business in Oakland to sponsor the Centennial. Sponsorships will start at $250. Our goal is to raise $100,000 so that not only will we be able to fund the events, but also begin of an Oakland Tech endowment.
